I have a problem with this, despite using the "mount -n -o remount,rw /dev/root/" command, I get "permission denied" when I try to run it. I've set the permissions for the actual files with ubuntu...

I've put it in home/prboom with doom 1 and 2 wads and the prboom.wad.

to run it I am using "cd /home/ ; ./prboom"

Any ideas? Am I missing something?

You have to use chmod +x from the command line in dingoo-linux on the prboom executable. However, if you put the files on your fat partition, you won't have to worry about these things.

Also, you'll want the rootfs to remount as writable all the time, so I suggest editing your /etc/inittab file.

Read this guide:

http://opendingoo.com/wiki/index.php/Di ... llation.29

It'll solve a lot of basic problems. Also, MAKE SURE you're using the latest uclibc rootfs (the link is on that page). DO NOT use the rootfs on the dingoo-linux Google Code project page.

Yeah cheers I worked out that I needed chmod +x

but even using that I can't get it to work.

In my history I've got:

cd /home/prboom/
chmod +x prboom
cd /home/ ; ./prboom

still no joy.

I think fat will be the way to go. But hey I've been using linux for 2 days....

I haven't tried prboom yet, but what happens when you run ./prboom now?

same thing "permission" denied

I tried mounting the fat partition as well but It doesn't recognise the device, i'm working on that now, i get the feeling that fat is the future :)

::sysinit:/bin/mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt/fat

should mmcblk0p1 be a file in my dev folder?

*edit* I got that working but even on the fat drive, it still won't run same thing "permission denied"

It's the same thing with hhexen, i've been running duke3d fine though...

I'm using ubuntu 8.04 live off a usb to copy and unpack files is there a problem here?

Are you using the latest uclibc rootfs? NOT the rootfs on the dingoo-linux google code project site.

yeah, I worked that one out the other day...

It may be a file system error I dont know, what I do know is that in ubuntu I cannot change the permissions for these files at all, even using sudo chmod etc...

If you have them still on FAT partition, there's no way to set permissions. Simply FAT doesn't have built-in permissions.
