VICE - C64 Emulator - BETA

Postby spn-x on Sun Sep 13, 2009 7:46 am

Hi , there is a newer version out for Vice ...

Download -> http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/dingoo.cgi?0,0,0,0,72,152 <-

Now it works better then the previous release ...

Here the Notes :

Code: Select all
At the moment the following known issues exist:

1. Sound lags.
2. Overclocking might be a bit... dodgy :blink:
3. Buttons are swapped back to gp2x orientation (B is fire/select etc.)

Buttons:

Select: Menu
RTrig: stats
LTrig: VKBD
START + LEFT / RIGHT: Volume down / up control (bit flaky at the moment).

Please launch the various .dge files, direct launch of the executables will not work.
This has been tested in dmenu and dinguxmb and seems to work well.
Apologies for the dodgy alpha, but it was... an alpha :)

Fixed in this release:

    * Palette issues
    * True Drive emulation now works!!!
    * Unzip of files now works (bug in gp2x version)
    * Reset C64 works (bug in gp2x version)
    * Added plus4 and vic20 emulators (haven't tested too much and vic20 seems incorrectly scaled?)

Most of the games tried worked fine ... but it is not as fast as the frodo ... so
Put both of the emus on your dingoo to have the best of both worlds ....

To gain speed turn of "True Drive Emulation", this eats up a lot of processing power and isn't needed for most games. Even games, that need it e.g. Katakis can be loaded with True Drive Emulation on and then, once you started the game, you can turn it off.

Just attach the other disc via the Vice Menu. Use "Attach Unit8".

I wonder if the sound lagging is due to the same problem I had with another port. Turned out to be a buffer size issue. I had a game that the buffer was set to 4096 and the sound lagged by about half a second. Took the buffer down to 1024 and no lag.

You can change the clockspeed in the Menu of the Emulator.

Why , oh why is there no love for the venerable VIC 20 ? :evil:
Same crap back in school, always looked down upon by those C64 snobs, with their 64 k and their oh so fast and snappy 5.25 floppies while I had to put expansion carts in the back just to play alot of games and had to wait half an hour for them to load off of my tape drive , well I least I got to look down my nose at TRS80 people. Losers. :lol:

Oh , wait , I had a question. :?
Any support for the Vic planned? :D
