snes9x & latest gnuboy (with sound fix) staticly compiled

Postby joyrider on Wed Jun 10, 2009 7:16 pm

ok using the new toolchain by ezelkow i managed to staticly compile snes9x as well and i fixed the hang problem of gnuboy

don't expect too much from the snes 9x emulator though, it won't run yoshi island nor any super FX games and it has problems with mario kart as well ! and no i do not know how to fix certain games nor how to make speed improvements. That's for the emulation guys :)

I just made these static compiled binaries for people who can't compile themselves so they have at least something to play around with on dingoo linux

both binaries are availible on the archive here :
http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/din ... ,0,0,71,89

I have a little problem, when i want to launch a rom, i have the screen with Nintendo logo but not works.

My dingoo show a message:

Do you know this problem ?

about which emulator are you talking ? the snes emu ? if so does it happen with every rom ? if not it's probably a game that doesn't work. Which rom where your you trying to load ? i'll see if it does the same with me when i'm home.

mario kart doesn't work, i had the same problem with it. well it does work but you have to wait a very very long time at the nintendo screen but the game isn't playable anyway due to too low speed. Remember this is just a simple compile and no optimized build, if someone was to do a dynamic recompiler or even just mips asm core it would probably be much faster. but i do not know any of those things nor anything about emulator programming.

Hello joyrider,

i found your sourcecode of snes9x-sdl, and was having a simple look at it. The (maybe old) code i found is supposed to use the standard glibc toolchain, not the uclibc one.

When trying to compile, i found some errors on zlib (which is not included in the toolchain). How did you bypass this problem? did you compile the zlib from source ? can it be the cause of your report that it cannot currently load zipped roms? I can see the zlib only in the uclibc toolchain, not in the one you configured the makefile for...

I'm not an expert, i was just having a look at your source code. Maybe if you succeded to compile zlib (and it is reported to work), we could share the compiled libs on dingoo-linux to help building other apps.

I have to ask but how come snes9x 1.39? having had a look around 1.39 doesn't support super fx or mario Kart later versions do....it's one of these things that keep getting disabled and enabled...

http://snes9x.ipherswipsite.com/

I guess SDL is the answer to that...

Is there a way to do screen stretch for gnuboy to maximize the screen size to the Dingoo screen?

I haven't looked at the gnuboy code but if it uses SDL for rendering it should be straightforward. ROTT uses SDL_SoftStretch() for the fullscreen effect and this works fine with minimal performance loss.
