I just dont see reason to lost time trying to add radio to our linux... Like Link, I dont use radio, most of dingoo users dont uses radio... But you never know, you can wake someday and say: "Oh my god, I NEED to listen to the radio"

i know i would definitely use the radio if the linux OS supported it :0)

I too use the radio, it does come in handy for me. I doubt if it's that much work to get it running through linux

http://www.chrontel.com/pdf/7023-7024ad.pdf

CH7023/CH7024 TV Encoder
- Support for input resolutions up to 720x480 and 720x576 (e.g. 220x176, 320x240, 640x480, 720x480, 720x576, etc.)

So maybe we could have better video on tv-out.

EDIT:
Also from published code it looks like with some additional work it is possible to set LCD framebuffer to its native 240x320 orientation so we may avoid diagonal tearing in games and video playback.

According to the datasheets the chip also does SVideo (pin 26:Chrominance and 27:Luminance). Luckily they used the LQFP package, so that should make it reasonably easy to mod an svideo connector into the dingoo. On the other hand you probably have to set some registers to switch from composite to s-video, so this hack will likely only work using Linux or a modified firmware.

Well there are alot of things the chip supports that are currently in the dingoo, like a touch screen, camera, wifi, all sorts of stuff, but of course they would all require major modifications. I also havent looked too hard into the data sheet beyond the mips revisions so I dont know if the package in the dingoo actually has those, but they are listed in there.

I don't use the radio, but the TV-out was one of the main reasons why I bought a Dingoo. Hopefully it will still work when they develop Linux firmware, or else I'm going to have to stick with the default :(

True, but that's not the chip I was talking about ;). I was talking about the dedicated TV out chip (close to the tv-out connector). (...) The package of the chip easily allows this (the pins are exposed) unlike the main chip it self which uses a BGA package. Besides that, the registers of the video-out chip have to be set to use svideo.

Edit: According to the scheme on page 10 of http://www.chrontel.com/pdf/an96.pdf, more has to be done then just soldering two wires, but it still isn't an awful lot of work.

The chip's composite output actually rivals a lot of s-video outputs I've seen. Incredbly smooth.
I don't think that s-video's really required for the Dingoo, and I'm the kind of guy that puts RGB connections on my Sega CDX :p
Hell, it looks better than my SNES's s-video output already. Beats my laserdisc player's composite hands-down.
The only reason I'd see needing s-video is if you really wanted to do some small-text-heavy 720x480 stuff maybe.

When I wake up in the mornings I flip on my dingoo and tune in to my favorite radio program while I sit back and eat my breakfast. I am surprised to find that I really like the radio feature and would miss it if it were not there. After I eat I catch a little game time before I head for work.

Do you use the 2.4.20 kernel or did you get a 2.6 running?
