dmenu 0.3

Postby rookie1 on Wed Aug 05, 2009 2:41 pm

Greetings! Attached is Dmenu 0.3. From the changelog for 0.3,

- Fixed a display bug where the menu items above the mainmenu are overlapping
- Execute programs directly instead of via '/bin/sh' to reduce memory usage
- Re-structured config files to add theme support and reading config from application directories. See readme.txt for details.

I have changed the config file handling to support multiple themes, and search other directories to include additional config files. Games/Emulators/Applications can come with their own dmenu.cfg and these will be automatically included in Dmenu as long as they are in the search path. Check readme.txt in dmenu directory to find out more.

As usual, post your suggestions/requests/bug reports in this thread. Enjoy :)

Hi is there a way of making the spacing between the icons (Games, emus etc) bigger as they seem a bit too close together.

I would like them like the original Dingoo OS menu.

Just to clarify, the original Dingoo OS menu does not have any spacing between the icons. If you look at the default theme comes with dmenu, the icon positions are exactly like the original menu. If you want additional spacing, you might want to make the transparent border wider in your icon. In future, I might add a spacing parameter in the theme config file.

Thanks rookie1.
Quick question though is there any way you could make it so when you hold a button on the d-pad it continually scrolls like in the native OS?
It's a pain tapping down a couple hundred times to get to super mario land LOL

No sub menu support yet? also is there a chance of enableing menu wrapping? so when you get to the last option it goes back to the front?

Hi,

First, thank you very much for this essential application.

Is it possible to make the initial selector directory different from the work directory?
So then I can have PrBoom as the work directory, but a separate WADS directory as initial selector directory. Then I don't have to navigate to the right directory first when selecting a wad file.
Also handy for the emulators, then I can put the NES roms somewhere in the root of my SD card, so I can quickly find the roms also from the Dingoo's native NES emulator.

Regards,

Robert

I am in complete agreement with robert2098...
1st - This tool is Essential! Without it, our beloved Dingux if merely a Linux terminal sans the keyboard... not very much fun really (unless it was DOS, of course. I'm Old School ^_^). Dmenu has never given me even the slightest hiccup; that's pretty good performance considering how much I use the little critter. I personally owe you a Debt of Gratitude for helping to provide me with the Glorious Wonder that is Portable DOOM... and Heretic... and Hexen... and ScummVM... and Mame4All... and obviously any directly portable Linux Application ad infinitum. (Incidently, my 16 Gigabyte microSD will be here next week.) Muchos Arigato.
2nd - Having the ability to start the Selector function in a specific directory would be most helpful, and it would make the best use of the Explorer Function in Dmenu. It works fine without it, but it would make preformatted installs (like DOOMgoo) cleaner and more intuitive. Also, the ability to have the Selector function find only select strings (i.e. *.wad) would also be fabulous.
Thanx again for the very necessary (and quite attractive) menu app for our Dingux-enabled Dingoos. Respect and Appreciate!
