I thought it was only a theme but it is a whole menu.
Awesome!
here is the readme:
Code: Select all
DinguXMB v1.0 (26/08/2009)

A Cross Media Bar for the Dingoo A320

Copyright (C) 2007 Mikael Ganehag Brorsson
Port by Slaanesh continuing work from BooBoo's port.

===============================================================================

INTRODUCTION

  `DinguXMB' is an alternative launcher for the Dingoo run Dingux.
  It has the same visual layout as the Sony Cross Media Bar.

  DinguXMB is a port of the original GP2XMB.

===============================================================================

ORIGINAL NOTES

  GP2XMB is currently under heavy development and you are encouraged to try
  out the latest version and come with new suggestions and patches to improve
  the quality of the software.

  The following features should be included in GP2XMB in the future:

    - Game Launcher (Divided into a shortcut lanucher and a browser)
    - Photo Viewer (Close to finished, only minor things and bugs left)
    - Music Player (A simple Vorbis player, libmad support in the future)
    - Video Player (Pre-design, Currently uses the internal player)
    - Settings Menu (Various settings implemented)

===============================================================================

INSTALLATION

  Installing DinguXMB is fairly straight forward.

    - Unpack the binary release to a directory ie. /usr/local/dinguxmb
    - Copy the 'main' script to /usr/local/sbin. The 'main' script assumes
      that you have installed to /usr/local/dinguxmb. Edit it if necessary.
    - The executable is dynamically compiled. You need the latest rootfs.

  To run, start your Dingoo (with Dingux).

===============================================================================

KEYS

  Press 'A' to select
  Press 'B' to cancel or go back
  Press 'L' to decrease volume.
  Press 'R' to increase volume.
  Press 'X' to create a shortcut. You must have a valid executable currently
            highlighted from the games section (see below).
  Press 'SELECT' to exit. The 'main' script provides a 5 second countdown.
            The intention is that you can safely use this time to switch off.

===============================================================================

GAME LAUNCHER

  Only executable files ending with '.sh' or '.dge' are recognized by
  the launcher.
  Accompanying '.png' icons are also displayed (nice!).

  I think it would be a good idea of the Dingoo A320 community standardizes
  to these two of suffixes.

  '.sh' for scripts
  '.dge' for binary executables

  All my future releases will follow this format.

===============================================================================

NOTES

  - Many features are missing. Many features already work.
  - You will have to experiment a little.
  - For now, it launches games/applications and has the ability to create
    shortcuts which is good enough for me.

The readme right there tells you how to use it - apps can be added on the fly....

Hi,

Installed dinguxmb and followed the instructions.

Got an error message "main: applet not found" when booting up.

Any ideas??

quick fix for the applet not found error. Copy the contents of the included main file and put them at the end of your current main file. Just comment out the 2 lines that have to deal with dmenu. You can use"#" to comment it out. worked fine just for me.

If you are still having problems ill post my menu.

As far as adding apps, most dev's games executables do not have a extension. simply rename them to .sh or .dge. i currently do .sh . The only problem so far that ive seen is that the emulators that relied on dmenu's "selector = yes" will not work yet due to the fact you do not have the option.

This is the real first release of dinguxmb. try it out. I happen to like it alot aside from the emulator problem. which im sure will be fixed later. In the meantime some emulators do work

-mame4all
-gxspectrum
-openmsx
-scummvm(havent tried yet)
-picodrive

I like the idea of adding executables on the fly.

A nice feature would be shortcutting directories and associating them with .sh files then you launch emulators from roms folders and picture viewers from pictures folders etc.

Best things I like about DinguXMB so far, is global volume adjustment (Finally, ALL the apps have the same global volume) and fast navigation (Now you can simply hold down/up button for fast scrolling through the list of files). Shortcut system is very convenient and lets you organize folders your own way. Animated background was a nice surprise too. At first I thought it was static.
Looking forward to emulator support, and more new features. :D
