is my mobile phone charger safe to use?

Postby CUPC4KES on Tue May 12, 2009 10:22 pm

i was wondering, i have a cheap phone i use for work (a '3' skype phone by amoi), this phone only has one imput for usb/charging which is the generic usb imput, the same one as a ps3 pad, my garmin satnav and just so happens, my a320. does anyone know if it woud be safe to attempt to charge the a320 with the charger for my skype mobile? i do have a stepdown converter but i have terrible thoughts of it seting on fire or something while im asleep so id rather not use that, thanks for any help.

as long as it has a 5v output 5.2v max then yes this is fine, any higher and you can break your player.

It does, but it's nice to have options.. I use my phone charger sometimes, works fine.

I bought this IOGear charger at the airport. Store manager assured me it had a 110 charger. She went home. The guy who rang me up opened the package since it was hard plastic wrap in the secure area of the airport.

Turned out it charged via USB only.

The nice gentleman went to the rack grabbed me a three 110 plug two USB plug surge protector & told me I couldn't return it.

Here is the answer: If it is a charger and it has a Mini USB plug then you are fine.
USB is a standard, and while the current may vary slightly from charger to charger, that will only affect how long your A320 will take to charge.

I use:
The Dingoo charger
Various USB ports on computers at home and at work
Various phone and GPS chargers at work

No worries.
No fears.
