HXF-Tool beta

Postby so9 on Fri May 08, 2009 3:45 pm

hi to all

the first beta of my hxftool is ready for a few tests

hxftool 0.6 (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?n2jamzf5vei)

features
- integrated hex-viewer for single files inside the hxf-package
- change bootscreens
- change a few default settings
- language editor for english-texts
- some automatic patches (including the td-mod)

it's straight forward to use. simply open a hxf-file and change whatever you want. there's no need to use an unpacker. everything is done online so backup your hxf-file (just in case). i'm a little bit out of time maybe someone can write a tutorial?

if all this bricks your dingoo look here http://dingoo-digital.com

releasenotes
Code: Select all
07.05.09  : 0.2 first beta release
09.05.09  : 0.3 bugfix to decompile malformed languagefiles properly.
09.05.09  : 0.4 added writeprotection for unidentified files.
hxf_dump is now created in the hxf-file path
26.09.09  : 0.6 rewrite of patchcode to speedup the tool.
                       autodetection of available languages (beta)
hxf-header is now recalculated completely to allow easier updates.

bye

after a request from another forum i compiled a command line language compiler.
just edit the language_table file and doubleclick on compile. a dlx-file is created.
replace the one in /system/nls repack your firmware and enjoy your own translation.
(you've to switch your dingoo to english)

Tried this with 400mhz overclock firmware and changed default language settings and some text strings. I also added the custom theme td hack to it. It won't work, even if I put the system directory on the dingoo before I upgrade. It never lets me get disc access again after adding the firmware.

EDIT: It also didn't work without using the TD hack...all I changed was default language and a few text strings and it still hangs at boot.

after unpacking the td3-firmware it looks like their english language file is not properly compiled. to change a few words they filled up some strings with 0x00. so decompiling fails and recompiling is even worse.
i coded a workaround please try version 0.3

Thanks for looking into it. I might have not been clear though. I was not using teamdingoo firmware as the original. I was using the firmware from Chinese site that is same as stock except overclocked to 400mhz. I was only adding the TD hack through your program. I will give it a shot though and see if it works now. Thanks for all your efforts.

Same problem still...

Using this firmware. http://ishare.iask.sina.com.cn/f/5022928.html

Doing the following:
Changing Text strings on main menu (Video, Music, Games, System, Books) instead of (Music hall, Movie theater, etc...)
Default lang to english.
Adding TD hack.

Still freezes at second dingoo boot screen.

it works for me. maybe there's a problem in the update procedure

- switch the dingoo into updatemode by pressing B and reset
- connect the dingoo to your pc
- start the flash util
- select "a320_pd27_ili9325_rls.dl" and "a320.hxf" for download
- click "burning system"
if you applied the td-patch do the following
- after some time the dingoo reboots but freezes at the bootscreen
- now copy all directories in "hxf_dump" to the root of the dingoo. if you used a td-firmware copy everything in "ROOT FILES" to your dingoo
- disconnect the device and reset it

i doublechecked this with
- v1.02 official
- v1.03 official
- v1.03 team dingoo 2
- v1.03 team dingoo 3

hope this helps

It still isn't working. Maybe it is just the firmware I am using. Did you try the one from the link I posted? Or perhaps I am doing something wrong. When it says "X number of bits left" after I change text strings am I meant to fill it back up to 0? I can flash the firmware but once it reboots I cannot access the root of dingoo anymore.

BTW: Thanks for all the work you did on this. It is a great tool. I understand of course if you don't have time to keep fooling with this thing. I am certainly still grateful for what you have already done.
