Thanks very much, you've been a great help.

This has confirmed that it's something to do with my environment, I'll try a different rootfs and kernel to see if it makes any difference.

It all depends on what your building and using. If your using the uclibc toolchain you should probably either be using the uclibc rootfs, or be building statically. If your using glib then use the glib rootfs or build statically

Using the uclibc toolchain and was using the rootfs, too. Extracted the rootfs from the Dingoo LInux project over mine, and tried a different kernel... didn't make a difference. This is crazy!

Well, I've still no idea what went wrong, but I've fixed it by erasing and replacing my rootfs with the latest one, and using the latest kernel. I think dumping new root filesystems over the old without first erasing was probably unwise.

Time to try compiling something else, now!

Hehe, glad that fixed it. Depending on the changes is when I decide whether or not to completely wipe and start over. If I completely redo some options in the toolchain which would then affect every single thing compiled, then I wipe everything, but if the only thing Ive changed is to just a new library or something small, then I dont usually bother. So I guess it depends how out of date you were.

The new rootfs has thrown a spanner into the works of GnuRobbo shininess. Either that, or I've somehow managed to corrupt my /data folder.

It seems that the game will run quite happily, but once I get into a level there are black squares where there should be graphics. This could be indicative of a slight difference/incompatibility with the SDL library in the new rootfs, or just something altogether different- like a crapped out data folder.

Can anyone try Gnurobbo built against the latest toolchain on the latest rootfs from openhandhelds.org and see if they get the same problem.

Those MiniSD -> MicroSD adaptors have given me another 8gb card to play with, so I'll experiment with other kernels and root filesystems and can keep these handy if anyone needs some testing done.
