Dingoo Megadrive/Genesis emu. help

I recently got the dingoo (Just yesterday :D) and I've been trying to play some genesis games. I put Sonic the hedgehog 1.gen and Sonic the hedgehog 1.bin on my dingoo.
Neither of them worked, am I putting the right files on or is something wrong? D:

Rename them to sonic.smd for example. :)
